Job Opportunities
Shintech values its strong working relationship with the Iberville and West Baton Rouge communities. As we have pledged since announcing the project in December 2004, we are committed to employing as many qualified local residents as possible to run our Iberville facility. Shintech expects hiring to begin in the first quarter 2007 and continue through start up of the facility. Applications will be accepted for the positions listed below.
Some of the positions involve additional experience, skills or schooling, but in general, if one is willing to learn, show up for work and stay away from illegal substances, he or she has an opportunity to be considered. Shintech provides a lot of its own training for the positions it is seeking to fill.
Process Technician
Education/Experience Requirements
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Completion of
two operations courses (Introduction to Unit Operations and Principles
of Industrial Measurement) at an accredited college or college math and
a college science course ; must have transcript of grades, OR Associates
Degree (AA) from a college or technical school; must have transcript of
grades and diploma, OR completion of Shintech Process Technician Training
Course, OR minimum seven (7) years prior experience as a process technician
in a chlor-alkali, vinyl chloride monomer, polyvinyl chloride, or similar
manufacturing facility. Must be willing to work shift work.
QA Laboratory Technician
Education/Experience Requirements
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Four credit
hours of college chemistry, three credit hours of college math and three
years of laboratory experience; or five years laboratory experience. Must
be willing to work shift work.
Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Education/Experience Requirements
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Technical degree
or the equivalent background and experience in the Mechanical Maintenance
field. Two to three years experience in the Mechanical Maintenance field.
Instrument and Electrical Maintenance Technician
Education/Experience Requirements
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Technical Degree;
or the equivalent background and experience in the instrument and electrical
field. Two to three years' minimum experience in the instrument and electrical
field.
Clerks
Education/Experience Requirements
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) plus 2-year office professional degree or equivalent office experience. Computer skills, typing, 10-key by touch. Ability to solve practical problems with the minimum of guidance. Five or more years experience in a related field.
